A 27-year-old man was arrested for buying a ticket at Changi Airport just to drop his wife off at the gate. The man did not get on the flight, which is an offence as the transit areas are protected places and you can only enter them to travel.

23 AUGUST 2019: MOSCOW, RUSSIA

Reportedly there was a fight amongst taxi drivers in the parking area at Sheremetyevo Airport. However, the taxi drivers, who are migrants, claimed that the fight was not between themselves but was initiated by drunk airport security officers who stated, “You don’t belong here, hajis.” Allegedly one of the drivers was chased by a guard with a knife and another was hit around the head with a gun, and a car was damaged. The drivers claimed that the security staff were in civilian clothing but changed to their uniforms once the police arrived.

22 AUGUST 2019: MUMBAI, INDIA

A 26-year-old man scaled Mumbai International Airport’s south side wall and entered the runway. He walked up to a SpiceJet flight that was getting ready for take-off to Bengaluru. The man touched the nosewheel and the undercarriage of the aircraft. The pilot turned off the engine after he spotted the man.

21 AUGUST 2019: LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

A 49-year-old man was arrested for hitting a pilot at a boarding gate for Frontier Airlines at McCarran International Airport. The man was intoxicated and was denied entry onto his flight before the assault occurred.

21 AUGUST 2019: KATHMANDU, NEPAL

Ma Qiwei and Hu Xinzhong stole cash and two gold bangles from a woman during a Turkish Airlines flight from Denmark to Kathmandu. They were arrested four days later at Tribhuvan International Airport before boarding a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.

20 AUGUST 2019: KOLKATA, INDIA

A 36-year-old man was arrested at Kolkata Airport for claiming he had a bomb in his hand luggage. The passenger was frustrated at the secondary ladder point checking security checks and told airline staff that were checking him before his Thai Smile Airlines flight to Bangkok to hurry up because he had a bomb in his bag.

18 AUGUST 2019: BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

Kiyoshi Andrea Bill, 31, was arrested at Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport for allegedly kicking and biting TSA officers who were escorting her to rebook the flight she was denied entry to. She was allegedly drunk.

13 AUGUST 2019: BUKA, PAPUA NEW GUINEA

The National Airports Corporation suspended flights to and from Buka Airport until 12 September due to safety and security concerns because people had damaged airport equipment and were entering the runway. Air Niugini flights were consequently cancelled, and to compensate, they increased flights to neighbouring airports.
