Gold Goes Missing After Armored Vehicle Crash in Türkiye

An armored truck carrying gold that had been picked up from a jeweler crashed on the Istanbul–Izmir highway near Karacabey in Türkiye. Reports say a tire burst after which the vehicle lost control. It veered off the road and reportedly rolled four times. When authorities arrived to inspect the scene, they discovered that 11 kilograms of gold, worth about £1.75 million, was missing.

Security forces launched a large-scale search across the area, but no trace of the missing gold has been found. The serial numbers of the lost gold have now been shared nationwide, with local jewelers asked to be on the lookout for anything suspicious.

An investigation has been opened as officials try to work out how the gold disappeared from the wrecked armored vehicle.
