After the finish of the 50th Annual Marine Corps Marathon in Rosslyn, Virginia on Sunday, October 26, a number of Metro transit issues were waiting for the runners. All escalators at the station were out of order, leaving thousands of spectators to queue in line for three elevators to exit the station.
Some runners waited at the Rosslyn Metro station entrance for 45 minutes after the run before the gates finally opened and police officers started letting people in. At Rosslyn, no escalators were working, which left thousands of spectators and runners to wait for three elevators to exit the station.
“Messaging from (Metro) person to person was a little confusing,” according to one attendee.
