Two People Dead in Car Ramming and Stabbing Attack at a Synagogue in UK

Reports say a car drove towards members of the public and a man was stabbed at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester, UK on Thursday, October 2. Officials called it a “major incident” and shot the suspect (seen in the accompanying image) who died at the scene.

People were worshiping at the synagogue at the time and were kept inside while the area was cleared.

Some of the attendees at the synagogue as well as security staff helped stop the attacker from entering the building, according to Greater Manchester Police.

The attack came on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar, and police are treating it as a terror incident. The attacker, who was shot dead by armed officers at the scene, was identified.

Four people were hospitalized with serious injuries in addition to the two dead.
