A leading access management company is set to exhibit its lock boxes at a major security trade show amid a shift in momentum towards their mandatory use on buildings in the US.
Wolflok will take up an exhibitor stand this week at ISC West in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the company launched to the US market last year.
Members of the team will talk to industry experts about their maximum security and independently attack tested Wolflok and Wolflok Pro lock boxes.
The exhibition comes at a time when more and more municipalities across the States are considering making lock boxes mandatory for multi-family residential properties, as well as commercial and industrial buildings, to aid first responders.
The Saugerties Town Board in New York state has unanimously approved legislation requiring exterior wall-mounted lock boxes on all single-access multi-family residential buildings with three or more units. Other properties covered under the law are commercial and industrial buildings, places of assembly, access points to gated residential communities, schools and daycare centres and houses of worship.
The boxes will hold keys or other entry information available only to emergency responders. Property owners in that jurisdiction area will have 120 days from filing their purchase to install their exterior lock box or face fines of up to $250 or up to 15 days in jail.
The ruling has been welcomed by Wolflok Managing Director Marcus Taylor who believes maximum-security lock boxes have a multitude of benefits for landlords, tenants and property managers.
He said: “It’s great to see another local authority change its laws on access management and introduce mandatory use of lock boxes for most multi-occupancy properties.
“This change has been brought in specifically to improve emergency responders’ access to multi-occupancy residential buildings and commercial properties in an approach that can save lives, save time and save money on the cost of replacing a damaged front door.
“But, in truth, there are many use cases. Lock boxes can be used to support access for carers visiting vulnerable and elderly people with mobility problems. They can also be used to manage access to holiday homes and Airbnb properties and as a low cost alternative for facilities management companies that oversee the security of buildings at a number of locations.”
Marcus added: “We received some extremely positive feedback when we launched the Wolflok brand to the US market last year. We hope that, as momentum gathers across America for mandatory use of lock boxes, the response to our products this year will be even more encouraging and supportive.
“We look forward to connecting with industry experts, collaborating with our trusted partners and introducing our innovative products to security professionals from around the globe.”
